Africa's 10 Most Fire-Affected Countries in 2026

New data from the Global Wildfire Information System ranks the African countries most affected by fires this year, with the Democratic Republic of Congo recording the largest area burned.

The figures cover landscape, savanna, grassland, and forest fires recorded up to August 1, 2026.
