The airline warned that additional disruptions may affect KQ 002 on 25 January and KQ 003 on 26 January.

Kenya Airways has cancelled several flights between Nairobi and New York due to severe weather sweeping across the United States.

The airline announced that KQ 002 from Nairobi to New York scheduled for 24 January 2026, and KQ 003 from New York to Nairobi on 25 January 2026, will not operate as planned.

The airline warned that additional disruptions may affect KQ 002 on 25 January and KQ 003 on 26 January.

In a statement, Kenya Airways said, "The safety of our guests and crew remains our highest priority, and these cancellations have been made in the interest of safe operations. Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and will keep our customers updated as we continue to assess and provide further guidance. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding."

Passengers are encouraged to check the airline’s website or mobile app for the latest updates. The Customer Excellence team is also available via phone at +254 711 024 747, WhatsApp at +254 705 474 747, or on X @KQSupport.

The cancellations come as a sprawling winter storm sweeps across the United States, driven by arctic air colliding with tropical moisture over Texas. More than half of the country is expected to experience the storm in the next 60 hours.

Winter weather alerts now cover approximately 179 million people, including 19 million under Ice Storm Warnings, while cold alerts extend from southern Texas to Canada.

The storm has already forced more than 8,000 flight cancellations over the weekend, with at least 3,400 flights delayed or cancelled on Saturday and over 5,000 called off for Sunday.

Areas from New Mexico to New England are under winter storm warnings, with forecasters warning that ice damage could rival that of a hurricane. Snow has already fallen in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, with more extreme conditions expected to develop as the storm moves eastward.
