UDA has celebrated winning all four seats in Thursday’s by-elections in Isiolo, Embu and Kakamega, calling the results a decisive mandate and criticising opposition politics as empty and divisive.

UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan said the party’s candidates delivered a decisive, resounding, and politically domineering performance, pointing to Mohamed Tubi’s victory in the Isiolo South parliamentary race and wins in West Kabras, Evurore and Muminji wards.

He also took aim at the opposition, branding them “rudderless” and accusing them of engaging in “hot-air politics” marked by “noise without substance” and “rhetoric without responsibility.”

Speaking on February 27, 2026, at UDA Headquarters in Nairobi, Hassan described the outcome as “emphatic, decisive, triumphant!” and a victory over what he characterised as “content-creating, rudderless, clueless, visionless, online ‘warriors’ and tribal, parochial saboteurs” who oppose the government’s agenda.

UDA took particular pride in its sweep of all four elective seats on offer in the mini-polls, which were held across several counties, including Isiolo, Embu and Kakamega.

According to official results, the party’s Mohamed Tubi secured a commanding win in the Isiolo South parliamentary by-election with 7,352 votes, defeating his sister, Bina Mohammed, who ran on a Jubilee Party ticket and received 634 votes.

The ruling party further extended its dominance in county assembly contests. In West Kabras Ward in Kakamega County, UDA’s Elphas Shalakha garnered a clear victory, while in Embu County’s Evurore and Muminji wards, UDA’s Duncan Muratia Nyaga and Peterson Njeru emerged victorious, respectively.

“These historic triumphs stand as a powerful testimony of the immense trust Kenyans continue to repose in the UDA Party, its Party Leader, and his Deputy,” the statement read, thanking residents of Isiolo South, West Kabras, Evurore and Muminji for turning out to exercise their cardinal democratic right to elect their leaders. The party said it regarded the victories as “decisive” and “resounding”.

While speaking, the party sought to draw a stark contrast between its own approach and that of its political rivals.

“The voters are emphatically rejecting politics whose currency remains hollow microphone gymnastics, noise without substance, and rhetoric without responsibility,” the statement said, condemning “hot-air politics” and claiming that opposition figures focused on ethnic division and words without meaningful solutions.

The party also pledged not to engage in unproductive discourse with its opponents, asserting that the opposition’s platform was “riddled with discursive emptiness” and lacked coherent policy substance.

The party framed the by-election results as evidence of growing public faith in its manifesto and broader leadership vision, including a focus on socioeconomic transformation.

“The Kenyan message emerging from the just-concluded by-elections speaks unmistakably to the growing public faith in the implementation of the UDA Manifesto, The Plan and the Party leadership's transformational agenda aimed at uplifting Kenya from Third World status toward First World prosperity, the Singapore-style development trajectory,” the statement said.

While UDA officials described the victories as a mandate to advance their political project, the party’s message also included a critique of its political rivals’ style and substance.

According to Hassan, the electorate’s choices showed a clear departure from the “Disjointed Opposition’s” politics, a reference to rival parties that have struggled to secure similar electoral gains in the mini-polls.

The party said its focus remained on reinforcing grassroots structures and strengthening its message across the country.

“We shall work round the clock to strengthen, revitalise and expand our party in our respective counties,” the statement added.

Despite his sharply worded rhetoric against opposition parties, he ended on a note of patriotic appeal.

“Live Long UDA. Live Long Kenya.” The party vowed to continue its political momentum as it prepares for the nationwide general elections scheduled for 2027.
