The Kenya Rugby Union has released a provisional 49 man squad to take part in a training camp which will select a pool of players who will represent the Kenya Sevens National team Shujaa.
Head coach Kevin Wambua named the squad following the successful conclusion of the national sevens circuit in recent weeks. Wambua has rewarded players from KCB RFC, Strathmore Leos, Daystar Falcons and others, who shone in the just ended national sevens circuit for their respective club sides.
The National 7s Circuit “Dream Team”, the team of the seas0n in other words, featuring Vincent Onyala, Gabriel Ayimba, Kelvin Wekesa, Samuel Asati, Nygel Amaitsa, Daniel Kipchirchir and Victor Mola all received callups from Wambua after a stellar season.
Sevens regulars such as George Ooro, Floyd Wabwire, Kevin Wekesa, Brian Tanga, Patrick Odongo and others are also in the provisional squad that will begin preparations in earnest for what will be a newly arranged international season, following changes by World Rugby last season.
Other notable names are just ended sevens circuit series top try scorer Victor Mola of the Leos and Kabras Sugar centre John Okoth who has been making waves with the Kenya Simbas 15 a side squad.
