Iran has launched widespread strikes across the Middle East targeting US military installations, following what it described as a “massive” and ongoing assault by the United States and Israel.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said the operation, dubbed “Truthful Promise 4,” focused on American assets in the region.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen near the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Manama, Bahrain.
The full extent of the damage is not yet known, and the United States has not issued a public response.
Bahrain’s state news agency confirmed the attack and later reported that several missiles entering its airspace were successfully intercepted.
Explosions have also been reported in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, all of which host US military bases.
Qatar’s defence ministry said it had intercepted multiple missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
In Israel, sirens sounded across the country as the military detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates reported that Iranian ballistic missiles struck its territory.
Its defence ministry said: “UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles,” but added that debris from the attack fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi alongside the UAE Air Force, making the area a key military hub for American operations in the Middle East.
Iranian authorities said the strikes were a direct response to US and Israeli attacks, reaffirming the region’s escalating tensions and highlighting the growing risk to civilian and military targets alike.
