The Jubilee Party has dismissed sustained attacks against its party leader and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, terming them politically motivated and dishonest, calling them a diversionary tactic, and calling them the failures of the current administration.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, the Jubilee Party accused a government-aligned faction operating within the ODM Party of orchestrating a coordinated campaign to scapegoat President Kenyatta as the country grapples with economic pressure and growing public dissatisfaction.
Addressing the press on behalf of the party, Grace Kamau, the Jubilee Party Nairobi County Youth Leader, stated that the attacks were a desperate attempt to shift blame rather than address pressing national challenges.
‘’The Party notes with grave concern the sustained, reckless, and coordinated attacks against our Party Leader, the Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, by a government-aligned faction operating within the ODM Party,’’ Kamau said.
“These attacks, dishonest, politically motivated, and aimed at diverting attention from the catastrophic failures of the current administration, form part of a broader scheme to scapegoat Uhuru Kenyatta and absolve the firm against state impunity since 2023, and in 2026, the struggle to liberate Kenya continues unabated.”
The party has firmly rejected claims that it had attempted to destabilise or interfere with other political parties, reaffirming its commitment to multiparty democracy as guaranteed under the Constitution.
“Jubilee is unequivocally committed to multi-party democracy as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya. At no time has our party leader, or the Jubilee Party, engaged in any plot to destabilise, “buy”, or hijack any political party,” Kamau stated.
The party recalled its post-election legal battles, noting that it was forced to fight up to the Court of Appeal to reclaim its own political outfit, an experience it says underscores its respect for the rule of law.
In the 2022 General Election, Jubilee maintained that the historical record is clear on Kenyatta’s role in backing Raila Odinga, dismissing claims seeking to rewrite that history.
''Let it be remembered that Jubilee itself was subjected to unprecedented state-sponsored “coups” immediately after the 2022 General Elections and was forced to fight up to the Court of Appeal to reclaim its own party,’’ Kamau said.
Kamau added, “The historical record is not in dispute. President Uhuru Kenyatta fully and openly supported his brother, the late Right Honourable Raila Odinga, in the 2022 General Elections.’’
On the recent attacks on whether the agents who were manning the 2022 General Elections for Raila Odinga were paid or not, the party stood its ground, saying those who sabotaged the process are well known.
“Those political mercenaries who sabotaged Raila Odinga’s victory are well known, and they sit comfortably within the faction of ODM that has since chosen power over principle and transactional politics over ideology,’’ Kamau affirmed.
As the country looks toward the 2027 General Election, Jubilee warned against attempts to revive ethnic divisions or distort past political reconciliation efforts, particularly those led jointly by Kenyatta and Odinga.
‘’As we approach the 2027 General Elections, the people are more politically conscious than ever and are counting the cost of broken promises and failed leadership. They will not succumb to newly fabricated narratives shamelessly peddled about the leadership of other countries that chose light over darkness, like the current administration,’’ she added.
Matiang'i said the party remains peaceful, supports multiparty democracy, and avoids political conflicts.
“We are a peaceful party; we wish all our fellow political players well as we go forward, and our policy position is straightforward, and we are not involved in conflicts with anyone. We are not interested in what's going on at any party. We genuinely believe in multiparty democracy. Our party leader does not have an interest in the ongoing conversations. Let him have peace and rest," he said.
Matiang'i added that he was encouraged by the party’s steady growth, noting with optimism that its base of young members is not only strong but expanding, with plans underway to attract even more youth into its ranks.
"I'm very happy, as we are growing, and the number of our younger members is strong and growing, and we want to grow that list even more," Matiang'i affirmed.
