At least six workers were hurt when a building under construction gave way in the early hours of February 11, 2026, at the junction of Racecourse and Kirinyaga Road in Nairobi.
The structure collapsed while construction work was ongoing at night, leaving one worker with serious injuries.
Central Police commander Stephene Nyakombo said there were 18 people on the site when the incident occurred.
“We have so far rescued and accounted for all of the workers. Out of the 18, six were injured while others were rescued with no injuries,” Nyakombo said.
Emergency teams responded promptly to help those trapped under debris, and the scene was cordoned off to allow rescue operations to continue safely.
Nyakombo said authorities are investigating why the construction was taking place at night and added that the team would seek answers from county officials.
This collapse comes less than a month after another building under construction fell in South C, Nairobi, killing two people. Investigations into that incident are still ongoing.
Rescue efforts at the Racecourse/Kirinyaga Road site were successful, and authorities confirmed that all workers have now been accounted for, although questions remain about safety measures and compliance at the construction site.
