Six people have been evacuated to hospital following the collapse of a building under construction near Karen Community Church along Ngong Road on Saturday evening.
The Kenya Red Cross Society confirmed that all individuals who were trapped have now been accounted for after an intensive search and rescue operation carried out by emergency response teams.
Rescue efforts involved the Red Cross, police, firefighters, and medical personnel, who rushed to the scene immediately after the collapse was reported. "The casualties were stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment," the Red Cross said.
Authorities have secured the area as investigations begin to determine what caused the building to collapse. Motorists were advised to exercise caution or use alternative routes along the affected section of Ngong Road to allow emergency operations to proceed smoothly.
The incident comes less than two weeks after a 12-storey building under construction collapsed in Nairobi’s South C estate, killing two people, raising concerns over construction safety standards in the city.
