The African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) hosted a special Iftar reception in Mogadishu on Friday.

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and Head of AUSSOM, Amb. Elhajj Ibrahim Diene reaffirmed the mission’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s peace and stabilisation efforts.

He paid tribute to the AU mission personnel and Somali security forces deployed on the frontlines, recognising their courage and dedication to the country’s progress.

Chief guest, Somali Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, thanked AUSSOM for hosting the gathering and acknowledged its role in contributing to peacebuilding and recovery.

He noted that Somalia will always remember the sacrifices made in support of restoring stability.

The reception was attended by senior Federal Government officials including National Security Advisor Amb. Awes Hagi Yusuf Ahmed, State Minister of Health Dr. Maryama Mohamed Hussein, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Abdifatah Abdulqadir Farah, members of parliament, and representatives from the United Nations, diplomatic missions, international partners, as well as AUSSOM military, police, and civilian personnel.
