President William Ruto has carried out a series of new diplomatic appointments and redeployments, reflecting his administration’s focus on reinforcing Kenya’s presence on the global stage.
According to a statement from the Executive Office of the President, the changes are part of ongoing efforts to ensure Kenya’s diplomatic missions are fully staffed and effectively managed. Kenya now has representation in seventy-two countries and territories worldwide.
“These changes comprise nominations for appointments to newly established missions as sanctioned by Cabinet, and the filling of vacancies arising from the end of tenure of serving diplomats,” the statement read.
The new postings include Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelekenya as Ambassador to Copenhagen, Denmark, and Elias Bare Shill as Deputy Ambassador to Mogadishu, Somalia. Ambassador Joseph Warui has been redeployed to Moscow, Russia, while Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Nur is set to take up his position in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The President has also submitted one ambassadorial nomination to Parliament for approval. “His Excellency the president has transmitted the nomination of the full Ambassador to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament,” the statement confirmed.
The notification was signed by Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei, highlighting the government’s continued drive to maintain a strong and competent Foreign Service.
