Police in Endebess Sub-County have arrested six suspects linked to the notorious “Kapenguria Six” gang, accused of terrorising residents of Kaisheber, Nabeki, Cherubai and surrounding areas, as security agencies intensify a crackdown on criminal gangs.

The arrests followed a joint operation by law enforcement officers targeting organized criminal activity in the area.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigations, the suspects — Juma Wanjala, Samson Kapolon Ewoi, Thomas Esakon Lorongoi, Linus Wekesa Wasilwa, Moses Kisuya Wekesa and Ezra Simiyu Nyongesa — had been “wreaking havoc on innocent citizens” across several villages, prompting sustained complaints from members of the public.

During the operation, officers recovered items believed to have been used to intimidate residents and facilitate violent crimes.

Officers said a military jungle belt, a beret and three pangas were seized from the suspects, exposing what authorities described as the gang’s “readiness for violence.” The recovery of the items strengthened investigators’ belief that the group posed a serious threat to public safety.

The suspects were immediately taken into custody and escorted to a police station for processing. Authorities said the six are being held as investigations continue and are expected to be arraigned in court once inquiries are completed.

Authorities also appealed to residents to continue cooperating with police by sharing information that could help prevent crime and apprehend suspects. Members of the public were encouraged to report criminal activity anonymously through the #FichuaKwaDCI platform.

Members of the public can also share information via the toll-free number 0800 722 203 or through WhatsApp on 0709 570 000, assuring the public of confidentiality. “Usiogope,” officers said, reiterating that public vigilance and cooperation remain critical in the fight against crime.
