The national league debutants, Chema from Juja, Kiambu County, had their coach, Jeremiah Mukopi, beaming with confidence and pride on Tuesday, emphasizing the need to stay calm and humble even as he prepares his charges for the Kasarani showdown this coming Thursday.

"We just got promoted this season, and inasmuch as I would like to take it slow, I realize that I have the best players in the League. They are daring to go, they want to win this League on their first season," beamed Mukopi.

Dennis Mokua's Prisons Kenya have an unmatched start of the season, securing four wins out of four matches, a perfect start witha maximum of 12 points, while the newbies Chema Volleyball Club are third on the log with nine points, maintaining an undefeated record from their three matches played so far.

Trailing closely behind in second place are the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), who have accumulated 10 points after winning three out of four encounters, but the competition is heating up mid-table, with Kenya Airport Police Unit and Kenya Defence Forces both gnashing their teeth with eight points apiece, as Equity Bank are steady in sixth place with six points.

With Kenya Forest Services being forced to withdraw from the league due to logistical issues, the bottom end now has a tassle between Prisons Rift Valley, Kenya Army and Prisons Western both looking to turn their seasons around and climb up from the bottom of the rankings, still, this Thursday fans from Juja will throng the Thika Super Highway and stomp into the Kasarani Indoor Arena at 6:00 pm for the highly anticipated clash between them, and Kenya Prisons.
