President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta have arrived in Bondo, Siaya County, for the funeral service of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).

They are joined by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, among other dignitaries, who have gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran opposition leader and reformist icon.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who served as Raila’s running mate in the 2013 and 2017 general elections, is also in attendance. He is accompanied by former Chief Justice David Maraga, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, DAP–K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Jubilee Party vice chairperson David Murathe.

Former Ugandan Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda has also arrived at JOOUST to join mourners in honouring Raila’s lifelong contribution to Kenya’s democracy.

Many of the leaders arrived through Kisumu International Airport, with some being airlifted to Bondo while others chose to travel by road.

Cabinet Secretaries, Members of Parliament, and other senior government officials have also flocked to the venue to witness the final farewell of one of Kenya’s most influential political figures, who died last Wednesday while undergoing treatment in India.
