Former Churchill Show comedian Professor Hamo has revealed the financial and emotional toll his affair with fellow comedian Jemutai had on his life.

The scandal, which erupted while he was married with three children, saw him lose brand deals worth millions and struggle to rebuild his image.

Speaking on the Mic Cheque Podcast, Hamo, whose real name is Herman Gakobo Kago, shared that the controversy made him a social outcast, leading to the loss of endorsement deals valued at approximately KSh 14 million.

"After the scandal happened online, nobody cared whether it was true or false. Everything collapsed. Suddenly, I lost multiple deals. Nobody wanted to associate with me. I lost about KSh 14 million," he recounted.

The 44-year-old acknowledged that his financial woes were not solely caused by the scandal, as he had been making poor financial decisions long before it became public.

"I was in my 30s, money was coming in, and I was making terrible decisions," he admitted.

Hamo explained how companies he had previously partnered with cut ties with him, leaving him in a dire financial situation.

"It was that serious. I lost money that I was looking forward to receiving. But more importantly, I lost my brand, which was everything," he lamented.

Beyond the financial setback, Hamo admitted that the pain he caused his wife was his greatest regret.

"What hurt me the most was that I hurt my wife, and she had never wronged me," he said.

Despite the hardships, he viewed the experience as a chance to rebuild himself.

"When my reputation was in shambles, I knew God had given me a chance to start over," he reflected.

Hamo credited his wife for standing by him and helping him navigate the difficult period.

"She told me she wasn’t going to fight this war on social media. She asked me what we would be fighting for online. She urged me to return to God, and I did. She had already noticed I was spiraling and stood by me when I opened up about my struggles," he explains.

"I can’t imagine my life without her. There were times I didn’t know what to do, but she would tell me to relax, and then I would wake up with an epiphany."
