Police in Kakamega County have launched investigations following a tragic incident where two children drowned in a pond in the Lake Basin area of Manyonyi Ward, Lugari Constituency.
According to reports, the victims—a five-year-old and an eleven-year-old—were playing near the pond when the tragedy occurred.
Their bodies have since been retrieved and taken to a nearby mortuary as residents called for safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
Following the incident, parents have been urged to remain vigilant and keep a closer watch on their children.
The tragedy comes just a day after another heartbreaking incident at Ramba Boys High School, where two students died after falling into an open septic tank on Sunday night.
Authorities have also commenced investigations into the school incident, with concerns being raised over safety measures in learning institutions.
