In Summary

To take the test, participants must use the same mobile number they registered with during the NYOTA application.

The State will, on Friday, October 24,2025 conduct a verification exercise in all constituencies across the country to identify 100,000 young people eligible for the Sh50,000 NYOTA Grant under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme.

President Ruto on Mashujaa Day 2025, said the nationwide verification exercise will be carried out across 290 constituencies to identify the beneficiaries who will receive the funds to grow their businesses.

“We are looking for 100,000 youth who will each be awarded Sh50,000 to enhance their businesses,” Ruto said.

“On Friday, October 24, in every constituency, we will verify youth who have businesses so that we can fund them to boost their enterprises, enabling them to contribute to Kenya’s growth and help eradicate poverty,” he added.

Applicants are required to complete the Entrepreneurship Aptitude Test (EAT), a key step designed to assess their business knowledge, creativity, and readiness to manage enterprise grants effectively.

To take the test, participants must use the same mobile number they registered with during the NYOTA application. They should first activate promotional messages by dialling *100*5*2*5*1#, then send the word ‘NYOTA’ to 40270.

Afterward, users can select their preferred language and answer all questions by replying with the correct option number until they receive a completion message.

The EAT is free of charge and can be done on both smartphones and feature phones.

It typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on network conditions and response time.

If a participant’s phone goes off in the middle of the test, they can resume from where they left off using the same SIM card.

However, once answers are submitted, they cannot be changed, and the test cannot be retaken.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, together with the Ministry of Co-operatives and MSME Development, is overseeing the rollout, with support from agencies including NITA, NSSF, NEA, and MSEA.

The State Department for Youth Affairs & Creative Economy says the test ensures that only motivated and prepared applicants receive the financial support meant to spark innovation and youth-led enterprise.

For assistance, applicants can call the toll-free line 0800 222 221 or follow NYOTA’s official handles on social media for updates and guidance.
