Police conducted a targeted raid on a house within the Manyatta “B” slums in the Mbeme area, arresting four suspects identified as Timothy Odhiambo, David Beckham Odhiambo, Tony Blair Omondi, and Harun Ibrahim.

Police in Kisumu East Sub-County have arrested four suspected criminals and recovered a Jericho pistol believed to have been stolen from a General Service Unit (GSU) officer during the funeral service of the late Raila Odinga.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in a statement on its social media pages, said the arrests on Saturday, October 25, 2025, followed a tip-off from members of the public.

Police conducted a targeted raid on a house within the Manyatta “B” slums in the Mbeme area, arresting four suspects identified as Timothy Odhiambo, David Beckham Odhiambo, Tony Blair Omondi, and Harun Ibrahim.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects led officers to another hideout where officers recovered a Jericho pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition,” said the DCI.

“Investigations have since revealed that the recovered firearm had been stolen from a police officer during the burial of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.”

The suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment.

According to an initial police report filed at Bondo Police Station, Constable Benson Kodia Olayo, attached to the VIP Protection Unit, lost his firearm loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Olayo was escorting Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa from the funeral service of the late former Prime Minister, which took place at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) grounds.

He reported that a group of rowdy youths swarmed the Governor’s convoy at the main gate, during which one individual allegedly snatched his service pistol and disappeared into the crowd.

The densely packed gathering made it difficult for officers to immediately pursue or identify the suspect.
