Kenyans can now claim unclaimed cash and financial assets more conveniently through Huduma Centres across the country.
The initiative, launched on Wednesday, February 25, links the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) directly with citizens, allowing them to access services without long queues or traveling to multiple offices.
The UFAA is responsible for receiving, protecting, and returning abandoned financial assets such as dormant bank accounts, uncollected dividends, and unclaimed insurance benefits. Established under the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act, 2011, the authority acts as a trustee for the Unclaimed Assets Trust Fund, ensuring that holders report unclaimed funds and that citizens can submit their claims efficiently.
Following the launch, Huduma Kenya confirmed that anyone with unclaimed financial assets can now submit their claims at any of the more than 50 Huduma Centres nationwide, free of charge.
During the opening, a UFAA representative stated, “We have partnered with the Huduma Centres to ensure that we achieve the last mile and connect with individuals who run this economy.”
Huduma Kenya also noted, “It’s official! You can now access UFAAKenya services at a Huduma Centre near you, making it easier to claim your financial assets.”
Kenyans seeking guidance on the claims process are encouraged to contact Huduma Centres through official communication channels, including social media or the helpline at 1919.
Huduma Centres, first established in 2013, were designed to simplify access to public services. Today, about 58 centres operate in major towns such as Nairobi, Mombasa, and Embu. They provide a wide range of services including national ID card and passport processing, birth certificates, business permits, driving licences, and tax services.
The rollout aligns with other government efforts to bring services closer to residents. In February, Nairobi County launched service desks at Eastleigh, Kibra, and Makadara Huduma Centres to streamline county-level services like land rate processing, parking fee payments, and business permit applications.
Beyond county services, select Huduma Centres in Nairobi—such as GPO, City Square, Makadara, and Kibra—also provide Judiciary services.
Residents can now file cases electronically, pay fines, and check case statuses, further centralizing public services under one roof.
