Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured residents of Mbeere North that the government will complete all ongoing development projects in the constituency, with plans to launch additional initiatives aimed at improving local livelihoods.
Speaking on Wednesday during a campaign tour in Muthanthara and Kirie, DP Kindiki urged residents to vote for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende in next week’s by-election, noting that Leonard would be better positioned to advocate for faster project completion.
“The development needs of Mbeere North are massive. We cannot afford to gamble with our progress. Those advising you to join the opposition do not have your best interests at heart,” Kindiki said.
The DP highlighted that Mbeere North had been historically marginalised but is now receiving transformative government projects under President William Ruto’s administration.
He detailed several initiatives worth billions of shillings, including the tarmacking of Siakago-Kanyuambora Road, Gikuyari-Ishiara Road, and Kanyuambora-Kamumu Road.
Other ongoing projects include the Kanyuambora Ward Water Project valued at Sh250 million, and the Kamata Water Project in Nthawa Ward, allocated Sh150 million.
A major water supply project serving both Mbeere North and Mbeere South constituencies from Kiambere Dam has also commenced, with Sh1.3 billion earmarked for its implementation.
The constituency has been allocated Sh336 million for last-mile electricity connections, a figure that will be increased to Sh600 million following DP Kindiki’s intervention.
“It will be easier for Leo to push the government to complete these projects because he will have the support of other leaders in Embu and access to senior government officials, including the President,” he added.
DP Kindiki also pledged to closely monitor the projects to ensure timely completion. At the same time, he cautioned opposition supporters against spreading hate, threats, or insults in the constituency.
“This habit of insulting elected leaders and residents must end. Those engaging in it should know their days are numbered. You cannot impose yourself on people who do not welcome it,” he warned.
