PHOTOS: State House buzzes as over 10,000 UDA hopefuls attend forum

President William Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday welcomed more than 10,000 individuals aspiring to run for elective positions in the 2027 general election under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) banner. The event marked the first-ever UDA Party Aspirants Forum, held at State House, Nairobi, and was limited to aspirants who received direct invitations from the party.

Addressing the gathering, Ruto highlighted the unprecedented level of interest in UDA tickets. "No political party in Kenya’s history has ever attracted the number of aspirants seeking tickets under my party," he said, adding that the surge demonstrates the party’s growing appeal and national influence.

The President noted that the large turnout reflects both the party’s reach across the country and the strong competition anticipated during the primaries. He added that many aspirants view UDA as the party best positioned to form the next government.

Party officials confirmed that the registration of aspirants is still ongoing and will continue until the statutory deadline of 90 days before the general election, in line with electoral laws. They explained that opening the registration early provides adequate time for vetting, resolving disputes, and preparing for the primaries.

UDA has maintained that careful planning and thorough vetting will ensure a smooth nomination process, with the party focused on identifying strong candidates for the 2027 elections.
