The Baringo by-election attracted attention as a measure of party strength and political alliances in a county where voter loyalty often shifts. UDA’s clear win in this race reinforces its dominance in what is considered a key stronghold and highlights the party’s growing influence in recent by-elections.

The victory arrives at a time of intense political maneuvering, with parties testing their popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections. Voting across most polling stations was reported to be peaceful, and the counting process proceeded smoothly.

Despite being the closest challenger, Kipruto could not narrow the gap, confirming Chemitei’s strong early lead.

Upon receiving his certificate, Chemitei expressed gratitude to voters and outlined his priorities for his term. “I am honoured by the faith Baringo people have placed in me,” he said. “My commitment is to serve diligently, champion local priorities in the Senate and promote progress without division.”

As a Senator, Chemitei will now take on responsibilities that include oversight of county projects, examining how legislation affects local communities, and advocating for development resources.

His win also strengthens UDA’s numbers in the Senate, positioning the party more firmly in legislative discussions and future political negotiations.

With this result, UDA not only retains control in a crucial county but also gains momentum in the ongoing by-election cycle, sending a clear message about its organizational reach and voter support ahead of the next general elections.
