According to Maraga, the crash happened after a lorry lost control, veered off its lane, and struck the vehicle carrying his campaign staff. He said he is closely following the situation.

Four staff members of David Maraga’s presidential campaign sustained injuries on Tuesday, December 23, after their vehicle was involved in a collision while traveling from Nyamira to Nairobi. The team was accompanying the UGM Party presidential aspirant when the accident occurred.

In a statement released that evening, Maraga said the injured members were immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

“We have been informed of a ghastly road accident that has occurred, involving four of our campaign team members. They have all been rushed to hospital. The four are part of a team that was driving from Nyamira back to Nairobi, having accompanied the UGM Party Presidential Aspirant, CJ (Emeritus) Maraga,” the statement said.

According to Maraga, the crash happened after a lorry lost control, veered off its lane, and struck the vehicle carrying his campaign staff. He said he is closely following the situation.

“We are following the situation closely. We are in touch with our colleagues. We ask that you keep them in prayer as the Doctors and nurses attend to them,” he added.

The incident comes shortly after another serious road accident earlier this week at Magina Centre along the Nairobi-Naivasha Highway.

That collision, involving a passenger bus and a lorry, caused injuries to several passengers and major traffic delays along the busy route, which is particularly congested during the festive season.

Eyewitnesses reported that the lorry veered into the path of the oncoming bus, hitting the front section and injuring the driver and passengers seated at the front. Rainy weather at the time slowed down rescue operations.

Emergency teams were quickly dispatched to provide aid and transfer the victims to nearby hospitals.
