During an interview on Radio Generation on Wednesday, Okango said the collaboration between top political leaders, anchored on a 10-Point Agenda, has helped bring the country together for the benefit of all citizens.

Strategic Advisor Fredrick Okango has lauded the Broad-Based Government for fostering national unity, supporting regional growth, and ensuring diversity in President William Ruto’s cabinet.

During an interview on Radio Generation on Wednesday, Okango said the collaboration between top political leaders, anchored on a 10-Point Agenda, has helped bring the country together for the benefit of all citizens.

“The late Raila Amlo Odinga made a decision to work with William Ruto on a 10-Point Agenda. He signed that document. His signature is in that document. President William Ruto's signature is in that document, It is on the basis of that document that the two gentlemen agreed,” Okango said.

He explained that the agenda covers critical areas including “full implementation of the NADCO Report, strengthening devolution, fighting corruption, youth employment and many others.”

Okango emphasized that the arrangement has driven development in regions that were historically left behind while also ensuring ethnic and regional balance in the cabinet.

“The Broad-Based Arrangement has seen inclusivity in the cabinet of President William Ruto, which is a matter of law. We have Oparanja from Western, Joho from Coast, Askul from Turkana, Mbadi from Suba, and Opiyo Wandayi from luo Nyanza,” he said.

Acknowledging internal disagreements, particularly with the ODM party, Okango noted that differing views are part of a healthy democracy.

“Democracy does not mean you stiffen people’s opinion. It means you allow people to speak what they want,” he added.

On future political engagements, Okango stated that party structures have endorsed continued collaboration, granting party leader Oburu Oginga the mandate to lead members in negotiations.

“As we are today, we are going to face the coming election through partnership, and the party organs have given him an opportunity to go and seek partnership with like-minded, starting with United Democratic Alliance led by President William Ruto,” Okango said.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Committee on Monday announced plans to initiate structured talks with other political formations, authorizing Party Leader Oburu Oginga to start engagement with UDA and other potential partners.

Following a committee meeting in Kilifi County on January 12, 2026, ODM stated that pre-election alliances will form part of its broader strategy.

“The Committee meeting expressed the intention to initiate structured negotiations with different political formations, beginning with United Democratic Alliance,” the party said in a statement.

ODM added that the discussions would follow an organized framework guided by its internal structures.

“To this end, we have mandated the Party Leader to commence this process,” the statement read.
