The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued a public alert warning job seekers and the general public against recruitment scams carried out by individuals falsely claiming to represent the agency.

In a statement released on Thursday, HELB emphasized that it does not recruit through agents or third-party agencies.

“The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) wishes to inform members of the public and all job applicants that HELB does not recruit through agents or third-party agencies,” the statement reads.

HELB also clarified that it does not require job applicants to pay any fees, submit medical reports, or provide any documents outside of what is clearly outlined in official job advertisements.

Members of the public are urged to be vigilant and avoid engaging with individuals or groups offering employment opportunities in exchange for money or personal information.

“All official communication from HELB is conducted through verified channels only,” the statement added, highlighting the importance of verifying any recruitment messages or offers before taking action.

The agency provided multiple official channels for verification and inquiries, including a phone line (+254 711 052 000) and an email address ([email protected]).

HELB also directed job seekers to visit its official website, www.helb.co.ke, and its verified social media pages for updates and announcements.

HELB reiterated its commitment to fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment processes. “HELB remains committed to fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment,” the statement affirmed.

The warning comes amid increasing reports of fraudsters exploiting job seekers in Kenya, using social media and other online platforms to solicit payments or personal information under the guise of official recruitment.

HELB’s alert seeks to protect applicants from falling victim to such scams and to maintain the integrity of its recruitment process.

Job seekers are encouraged to exercise caution and ensure that any recruitment process is officially communicated and verified directly through HELB’s authorized channels.
