A light aircraft carrying 12 people crashed early today (Tuesday) while flying from Diani in Kwale County to Kichwa Tembo, authorities have confirmed.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said the aircraft, registered 5Y-CCA, went down at 0530Z. Teams from government agencies are already at the scene to investigate the cause and assess the consequences of the crash.
Emile N. Arao, Director General of KCAA, emphasized that the authority is coordinating the emergency response and gathering details on the incident.
“At this stage, we are on site and working to establish the cause of the accident and its impact,” Arao said in a statement.
No official update has yet been provided on the condition of those on board, as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
