He told residents in Kasipul that the decision made by President William Ruto and the late Raila Odinga was clear, and leaders must follow it without breaking ranks.

The broad-based agreement between Kenya Kwanza and ODM will be the main guide in the coming by-elections, with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki saying the two partners will vote as one team across all affected regions.

He told residents in Kasipul that the decision made by President William Ruto and the late Raila Odinga was clear, and leaders must follow it without breaking ranks.

Kindiki was speaking on Friday during the Kasipul Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement held at Sikri Vocational Training Centre in Oyugis, Homa Bay.

The DP asked voters to show up in big numbers and support the candidates chosen under the unity deal.

“We have all agreed to work together and fully support all our broad-based candidates in the coming by-elections. The agreement signed by President Ruto and late ODM leader Raila Odinga has allowed us to support candidates sponsored by either of our parties,” Kindiki said.

The by-elections will take place on November 27 in Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Mbeere North, Banisa, and Magarini, and will also fill the Baringo Senate seat and several ward positions.

Kindiki explained that ODM will lead in Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini, while UDA will fly the coalition flag in Malava, Banisa, Mbeere North and Baringo.

In Kasipul, ODM’s Boyd Were is the chosen candidate.

Kindiki reaffirmed that the coalition will stand behind him, saying, “We are one team and here in Kasipu,l we are fully supporting the ODM candidate. We are also doing the same in Ugunja and Magarani as well as in all the areas where UDA candidates are carrying our flags.”

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga supported the message, noting that the coalition deal remains active and ODM will not walk away from it.

“In the coming by-elections we are supporting all the broad-based candidates because we have agreed that we will back all our candidates in the polls,” she said.

Wanga added that the party’s late leader had already placed ODM inside the government structure.

“Baba left us inside the broad-based government. It is where we will remain as the Orange Democratic Movement,” she stated.

The Deputy President also highlighted government development plans in Homa Bay and the wider Nyanza region, saying the administration is working day and night to complete projects.

He noted that Sh2 billion has been set aside for power connections to reach 26,000 homes, while Sh15.8 billion has gone to projects such as markets, affordable housing, and student hostels.

Roads that had stalled are now being revived, he said, with Sh8.5 billion allocated, including for the Sikri-Lida road that is set to begin soon.

In conclusion, Kindiki dismissed talk about the 2027 elections, saying leaders should stay focused on fulfilling promises instead of trading early campaign messages.

“When the time comes, we will be more than ready to showcase our development record. We will present our development record to the people. Do not be misled by those who have nothing to offer,” he told residents.
