The Kiambu Aquatics Inter-Club Swimming Championship has now been confirmed for April 18–19, 2026, at Juja St. Peter’s School in Kiambu County.
Speaking on Monday, Kiambu Aquatics Honorary Secretary Dr. Douglas Okatso said that the championship forms part of the Kiambu Aquatics Swimming League 2025–2026 season, which will conclude in June with an awards ceremony featuring a Sh100,000 cash prize sponsored by Genesis Sports Limited.
“The meet will be conducted using the Colorado System 7 timing device, and a scoreboard will also be in use. It is sanctioned by Kenya Aquatics and will serve as a qualifier for the national championships. The event is also open to schools and individual swimmers who wish to test their speed and performance,” he said.
Among the big names expected to grace the event is national swimmer Nygel Jayden of Thika Swim Academy, formerly of Bandari Swim Club in Mombasa, who moved to Thika Swim Academy after relocating to Nairobi and now is aiming for a dominant performance at the highly anticipated Kiambu Aquatics Inter-Club Swimming Championship.
“I am looking forward to the competition. I have been training hard under coach Charles Nyasae, with five sessions a week. My goal is to lower my times and qualify for the Kenya Aquatics National Long Course Swimming Championship next month at Kasarani. I also hope to earn selection to the national team for the 11th Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championship in October in Kampala,” he said.
The 11-year-old will compete in the 100m individual medley, 200m IM, 400m IM, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, and 50m backstroke. Last year, he represented Kenya in the 200m backstroke at the 10th Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championship in Kasarani. His participation earned him a government allowance of KSh 56,000, which he used to purchase Arena equipment and swimwear.
Some of the swimming Clubs expected to take part in the upcoming Kiambu Aquatics interclub championship include Torpedo, Aqua Fin Shark, Orca, Braeburn, Snook, Water Warriors, Genesis Sports Limited, Nawiri, Goldfish, and Dashing Dolphins, among others.
