The new system is part of KASNEB’s efforts to ensure accurate identification and reliable administration of its professional and technical examinations.

The Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) will now require students to register using biometric data, including fingerprints and facial images, in a bid to improve exam security and verification.

The new system is part of KASNEB’s efforts to ensure accurate identification and reliable administration of its professional and technical examinations.

In a notice issued on Monday, February 16, the board said it has developed the Biometric Registration and Identification System (BRIS) to make registration and verification more efficient while protecting the integrity of its exams.

"KASNEB is dedicated to enhancing the examination experience and upholding the highest standards of integrity, accuracy and security in its examinations. To this end, KASNEB has developed a Biometric Registration and Identification System (BRIS) specifically for KASNEB students," the notice read.

The system will store unique biometric information securely, including a facial image and at least two fingerprints per student, and will allow the board to produce accurate reports on exam attendance and candidate verification.

"KASNEB will capture biometric features, including a facial image and at least two fingerprints, to ensure secure and reliable identification throughout the examination cycle," the board said.

The rollout will start with students taking selected Computer Based Examinations (CBE). Qualifications covered in the first phase include the Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS), Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Credit Professional (CCP), Certified Quality Professional (CQP), Certified Forensic Fraud Examiner (CFFE), and Certified Public Finance Manager (CPFM).

"The biometric registration exercise will be conducted physically at designated centers, commencing on Monday, 16 February 2026," KASNEB stated.

Students must appear in person and bring valid identification documents such as a National ID or passport. Candidates are also required to complete and sign a consent form as per data protection regulations before their biometric data is collected.

"All biometric data will be handled with strict confidentiality and used solely for examination administration and related official purposes," the board assured. Registration venues, schedules, and specific instructions will be communicated directly to students and their training institutions.

This development follows KASNEB’s announcement of the April 2026 examination timetable. In a notice dated January 13, the board confirmed that exams will run from Monday, April 20, 2026, to Thursday, April 23, 2026, covering a wide range of professional and technical courses.

Examinations scheduled include the Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills, Accounting Technicians Diploma, Diploma in Data Management and Analytics, and Diploma in Computer Networks and Systems Administration.

Other papers include the Diploma in Quality Management, Certified Public Accountants, Certified Public Accountants in Public Finance, Certified Investment and Financial Analysts, Certified Credit Professionals, Certified Information Systems Solutions Expert, Certified Forensic Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Finance Manager, and Vocational Certificate Courses in Supply and Information Communication Technology.

Additional professional and practical exams include the Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya, Associate in Procurement and Supply of Kenya, Certified Quality Professional, Business Data Analytics Practical Paper, and Financial Modelling and Data Analytics Practice Paper.
