Asked if her grandnieces would one day witness a female president in their lifetime, Harris responded confidently that they would “for sure.” When pressed on whether that person could be her, she replied simply, “possibly.”

Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated that she is considering another run for the presidency, saying she still has more to contribute to public life and is not stepping away from politics anytime soon.

In an interview with the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris said she “possibly” could become president one day and expressed optimism that America would elect a woman leader in the near future. Her comments have sparked renewed speculation about a potential 2028 presidential campaign following her loss to Donald Trump last year.

“I am not done,” she said during the interview. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it’s in my bones.”

Asked if her grandnieces would one day witness a female president in their lifetime, Harris responded confidently that they would “for sure.” When pressed on whether that person could be her, she replied simply, “possibly.”

Although she maintained that she has not made a final decision about her political future, Harris made clear she still envisions herself as an active player in American politics.

She dismissed public opinion polls that rank her as a long-shot candidate within the Democratic Party, even behind celebrity names like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “If I listened to polls I would have not run for my first office, or my second office – and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” she said.

Harris also renewed her criticism of Donald Trump, accusing him of running what she described as an authoritarian administration.

She said her campaign warnings about Trump’s governing style had come true, noting that “he said he would weaponise the Department of Justice – and he has done exactly that.”

She further accused the Trump administration of using federal agencies to silence critics and referenced the suspension of television host Jimmy Kimmel after a joke about Republican reactions to the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“His skin is so thin he couldn’t endure criticism from a joke, and attempted to shut down an entire media organisation in the process,” she remarked.

Harris also condemned corporate America for what she viewed as submission to Trump’s power.

“There are many that have capitulated since day one, who are bending the knee at the foot of a tyrant, I believe for many reasons, including they want to be next to power, because they want to perhaps have a merger approved or avoid an investigation,” she said.

The White House dismissed her remarks, with spokesperson Abigail Jackson saying, “When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint – the American people don’t care about her absurd lies.

Or maybe she did take the hint and that’s why she’s continuing to air her grievances to foreign publications.”

Harris recently released her new book, 107 Days, a detailed account of her turbulent campaign journey after President Joe Biden stepped down from the race amid growing questions about his health. The memoir captures the challenges and emotions she faced during her short campaign period.
