Authorities have secured a 21-day detention order for six suspects accused of attempting to break into a house in South B earlier this month. The suspects were apprehended on November 16, 2025, at Jackim Estate after allegedly targeting a residence while the homeowner, Kuldip Bansal, was away and the caretaker was attending Sunday service.
Investigators reported that the group drove a Nissan X-Trail into the estate and ignored a security guard’s order to stop at the main gate before moving toward the house. The guard promptly alerted the estate chairman, who contacted the police, leading to the arrest of the six suspects.
Police recovered several items believed to be intended for burglary, including a set of master keys, claw bars, spanners, reflective jackets, and multiple vehicle number plates.
During a hearing at Makadara Law Courts on Tuesday, lead investigator Michael Kokani filed an affidavit requesting the 21-day detention, noting that more time is needed to conclude investigations before the matter is presented in court.
Investigators also told the court that the six are linked to similar burglary reports in other parts of the country, labeling them as “persons of interest” in a larger criminal network.
Concerns were raised about the suspects’ safety if released due to rising public anger.
The court heard that some victims, including those from Mombasa, identified the suspects after seeing their images in the media. Detectives are now consolidating evidence and statements from multiple locations.
The suspects remain in police custody as authorities work on compiling what could develop into a multi-county case file.
