WhatsApp has unveiled a fresh update that gives users a new way to connect with their contacts through status posts, introducing a question sticker that invites direct feedback from viewers.
The feature is aimed at making everyday status updates more engaging while giving users full control over how responses are received and shared.
Details shared through WhatsApp’s Help Center show that the question sticker is part of the Status feature found in the Updates section.
Users can type a question, attach the sticker to a photo or video, and publish it as a status for their contacts to see. Anyone viewing the status can submit an answer by tapping the sticker and typing a response.
The company says the new tool is an extension of recent efforts to refresh the Status experience. It comes after earlier additions such as polls, music options, and layout choices, which were introduced to encourage more interaction and participation from viewers.
Privacy plays a major role in how the question sticker functions. While the person who posts the status can view all responses, other contacts who see the same update are unable to view any of the answers submitted.
WhatsApp further explains that when users decide to repost selected responses as a new status, personal details of those who replied are not displayed. Names and profile information are excluded, keeping responses hidden from the wider audience even when shared.
Using the feature begins by tapping Updates and choosing options such as Music, Layout, Camera, or selecting an image or video from the phone gallery. Once the content is chosen, users tap the sticker icon, select the Question sticker, write their question, and place it anywhere on the screen before sharing.
Answers submitted through the sticker appear as notifications and can also be viewed by opening the Activity section linked to the status update. This allows users to review all replies in one place at their convenience.
The update also supports private conversations. Users can respond directly to people who submitted answers, creating a personal chat that is visible only to the two participants involved.
Controls are included to help manage unwanted content. Users can report responses they believe are inappropriate, sending them to WhatsApp for review without alerting the person who sent the reply. There is also an option to remove responses permanently from the status activity area.
For users who want to highlight feedback from their audience, responses can be added to a new status post. This is done by opening My Status, tapping the activity icon, and selecting Add to status under a chosen response. A new photo or video status can then be created, displaying the response text without linking it to the sender.
The arrival of question stickers reflects a wider move by messaging platforms to blend communication with social-style interaction tools. By offering instant response features, WhatsApp appears to be encouraging deeper engagement with Status updates, which are viewed daily by millions of users worldwide.
The feature is included in the latest version of the app and does not require an extra download. Users can start using question stickers by updating WhatsApp and accessing the Status section.
