Raila Odinga Junior has explained why he chose to wear white during the burial of his late father, former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.

Speaking during the ceremony on Sunday, Raila Junior said the choice of colour symbolized peace, strength, and celebration of a life well lived.

“I’m dressed in white because I feel like the last three days we have mourned Baba, we have cried for Baba,” he said.

“Myself, I’m very exhausted but strong because I know that is what Baba would have wanted.”

He said that while the past days had been filled with mourning and sorrow, the day of the burial marked a transition to celebration — a moment to honour his father’s legacy and long life.

“Today we are not mourning but celebrating a life well lived. We are celebrating Baba at 80, because of Baba and his legacy,” Raila Junior said.

He added that the family and the nation were united in paying tribute to a man whose influence and ideals shaped Kenya’s democracy and inspired generations.

“Tonight, we are celebrating Baba and his legacy,” he affirmed.

Raila Odinga, a former Prime Minister and veteran opposition leader, will be laid to rest at their Kang’o Ka’Jaramogi home in Bondo, Siaya County after days of national mourning and emotional tributes from across Kenya and beyond.
