The Affordable Housing Board has launched an open call for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Grade 1, to lead the state corporation established under the 2024 Affordable Housing Act.

The role is offered on a three-year renewable contract and targets experienced professionals with proven leadership, financial, and governance expertise.

In a public notice titled “Exciting Career Opportunity”, the Board said it is seeking “a qualified, highly experienced and results-oriented individual with a high degree of professionalism” to steer the institution.

The Board, a corporate body under the State Department for Housing and Urban Development, is tasked with creating a framework for the development and access to affordable and institutional housing.

The CEO will oversee the management and administration of the Board and serve as its accounting officer, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Key responsibilities include preparing annual work plans, managing Board finances, opening and operating accounts with National Treasury approval, and ensuring all funds are spent for their intended purposes.

The role also involves monitoring and evaluating housing projects, maintaining financial records, safeguarding assets, and implementing robust internal controls.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Built Environment, Business Administration, Finance/Commerce, Law, or a related field, alongside a relevant Master’s degree. Candidates should have at least 15 years of work experience, including 10 years in managerial roles in finance, law, or the built environment.

Professional membership where applicable, leadership training of at least four weeks, computer proficiency, and adherence to Chapter Six of the Constitution are also required.

The Board highlights competencies such as leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, ethical judgment, and financial management. The CEO will be responsible for executing Board policies and promoting integrity within the institution.

Applications must be submitted via email by March 10, 2026, 5 p.m. EAT, quoting the reference “Chief Executive Officer-AHB Grade 1” and using the subject line “CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER”.

The notice stresses that physical applications will not be accepted, misinformation is an offense under the Public Officers Ethics Act, 2003, and canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
