It began as a silent illness, easy to brush off, until it turned into a terrifying fight for survival that pushed her to the edge of death. Media personality Kamene Goro has now broken her silence, revealing how a condition she did not fully understand nearly cost her life.

Kamene on Friday shared that she had been unwell since November 2025, but at the time, she did not grasp how serious it was. What followed was a sudden and dangerous deterioration that left her fighting for her life at the start of the year.

“In January, I almost died,” she said.

She described a tense 12-hour period when her life hung in the balance, with four doctors working tirelessly to stabilise her condition.

According to Kamene, she was diagnosed with sepsis and peritonitis, both severe conditions affecting the abdomen and requiring urgent medical attention.

“I had sepsis and peritonitis in my abdomen. They removed 5 litres of pus from my abdomen,” she said.

Her health challenges did not stop there. The infection spread and affected her kidneys, leading to dialysis. She also developed pneumonia, and one of her lungs collapsed, further complicating her recovery.

She was admitted to both the Intensive Care Unit and later the High Dependency Unit as doctors monitored her closely and managed the complications.

Even after undergoing major treatment, Kamene said doctors are yet to determine what exactly caused the illness.

She expressed deep appreciation for the medical teams and everyone who stood by her during the ordeal, saying their support made a difference during her most difficult moments.

Looking back, she said the experience has been overwhelming and demanding both physically and mentally.

“It hasn’t been easy, and maybe it’s because of the pressure of what I have to do and how you have to be,” she said.

As she continues to recover, Kamene says she is choosing to embrace a fresh start while focusing on regaining her strength.

She also urged those dealing with serious health conditions not to ignore warning signs and to seek help early.
