A committee in charge of planning the funeral of the late Ol Kalou MP Njuguna Kiaraho has set his burial date for April 10, 2026.
Kiaraho will be laid to rest in Tigoni, Limuru Constituency, according to Funeral Planning Committee Chairperson Kwenya Thuku (Kinangop).
Speaking on Monday after the second planning committee meeting at the late MP’s Runda home in Nairobi, Thuku said the MP will be interred in accordance with his wishes.
“Our departed colleague will be laid to rest at his farm in Tigoni. He frequently visited the area to relax and reflect, and it is where he indicated he wished to be buried. This is in line with his last wish,” said Thuku.
The late Kiaraho was serving his third term as the Member for Ol Kalou Constituency, having first been elected to the National Assembly during the 2013 General Elections.
The lawmaker died on Sunday, March 29, 2026, while receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
He was a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
The committee also announced that a church service will be held in Ol Kalou on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ol Kalou Stadium to allow constituents to mourn their lawmaker.
According to the committee, the family of the late legislator will spend the Easter weekend at their Ol Kalou home. A vigil will be held at his rural home on Monday, April 6, 2026, ahead of the memorial service at the stadium.
A funeral service will be held at St Andrew’s Church in Nairobi on Friday, April 10, 2026, before the burial in Tigoni.
