Police in Kisumu Central Sub-County have arrested two suspected burglars linked to a string of break-ins in the Milimani area.

According to the National Police Service, officers on routine patrol intercepted the suspects as they were loading what appeared to be stolen household items into a vehicle. The pair tried to flee but were quickly apprehended.

Among the recovered items were a 65-inch television, household electronics, gym equipment, a CCTV camera, a cool box, a power supply unit, a solar panel, a projector, and various personal belongings.

Investigators also found that the suspects were connected to an earlier burglary at the same premises, which involved the theft of laptops, a gas cylinder, dumbbell weights, and a Hasa safe. The damaged safe was later discovered abandoned at the Islamia Cemetery along Airport Road.

The suspects are now in custody at Kisumu Central Police Station, awaiting arraignment in court. The vehicle involved in the incident has also been impounded to support the ongoing investigation.

The National Police Service praised the officers for their swift action. “We commend the officers involved for their swift action and reaffirm our commitment to combating burglary and related offences,” the statement read in part.

Authorities are also urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly.

“Members of the public are encouraged to continue sharing timely information using the toll-free hotlines 999, 911, and 112. Anonymous reports can also be made via #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 or on WhatsApp at 0709 570 000,” NPS added in a statement.

Police say the arrests highlight the importance of active patrolling and close cooperation between the community and law enforcement in fighting crime.

They emphasise that timely reporting and community vigilance are key to preventing burglaries and keeping households safe. Through continued collaboration, authorities hope to reduce property-related crimes and create a safer environment for residents in Kisumu.
