Police in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, have arrested a suspected burglar and recovered various stolen household and shop items in a well-coordinated operation following a public tip-off. The arrest was made by officers attached to Masogo Police Station after a report of a burglary was filed earlier in the week.

In a statement, the National Police Service said the suspect was nabbed after officers raided his premises and recovered several electronics and other valuables believed to have been stolen from multiple houses and shops in the area.

“Upon searching his premises, the officers recovered a Samsung 32-inch TV, a computer comprising a CPU, monitor, and keyboard, an RG-brand woofer, three rolls of electric cable, an Optima projector, a DVD player, two Nikon cameras, assorted electrical shop accessories, and a 6kg Meko gas cylinder,” the statement read.

The suspect was taken into custody and is being detained at Masogo Police Station awaiting further processing and arraignment. Police said investigations are underway to determine whether he is connected to other burglaries recently reported in Muhoroni and nearby trading centers.

The National Police Service thanked the community member whose information led to the successful arrest, saying such cooperation was key to effective crime prevention.

“The National Police Service commends the member of the public who provided the information that led to the successful arrest of the suspect,” the statement said. “We encourage the public to continue supporting police efforts by reporting any suspicious activities through the toll-free hotlines 999, 911, 112, or anonymously via #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp 0709 570 000.”

Police further called on residents to remain alert and promptly share intelligence on criminal activities, saying the Muhoroni operation was a clear demonstration of how collaboration between officers and citizens can help maintain security in the community.

The suspect will be presented in court once investigations are finalized.
