The National Assembly has dismissed as false information circulating online purporting to represent Bills passed by Parliament and a letter allegedly vetting individuals for Cabinet appointments.
In a statement issued on October 22, 2025, Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge said the documents being shared on social media are fake and misleading.
He clarified that Parliament has not received or is processing any nominations for Cabinet positions, contrary to claims made in the falsified letter dated October 14, 2025.
“The National Assembly takes great exception to the circulation of the information contained in the false documents, which include a fake and misleading cover page and long title of a Bill seemingly generated using artificial intelligence,” Njoroge said.
The Clerk explained that all genuine Bills are published by the Government Printer and are accessible to the public through official platforms, including the Parliament website (https://parliament.go.ke/the-national-assembly/house-business/bills) and the National Council for Law Reporting portal (https://new.kenyalaw.org/bills).
Physical copies are also available at the Table Office in Parliament Buildings and at the Government Press.
He further confirmed that Parliament had presented eight Bills to the President, which were assented to on October 15, 2025, in line with constitutional timelines.
“Article 116 of the Constitution requires that Bills assented to by the President be published by the Government Printer after assent. A published Act of Parliament comes into force on the fourteenth day after its publication in the Kenya Gazette, unless the Act provides otherwise,” the Clerk noted.
The National Assembly cautioned members of the public against commenting on the eight Acts before their official commencement, terming such discussions premature.
Njoroge urged Kenyans to rely only on official communication and verify any information regarding legislative business directly with the Office of the Clerk.
“The public may contact the Office of the Clerk to verify any information and clarify any concerns in this regard,” he added.
