The Kenya Wheelchair Basketball Federation (KWBF) has released a list of 12 players set to represent the country at the 2026 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) U-25 Women’s Africa Championships, scheduled for March 17–20 in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Speaking on Wednesday from Nairobi, KWBF President Alfred Simiyu Barasa told Radio Generation that the team has trained well for over a month, with no injuries or illnesses reported in camp so far.

“We have been training well for over a month. There have been a few hiccups regarding training facilities, but we managed,” said Barasa.

“We don’t know much about our opponents, and they also don’t know much about us. We will settle it on the court,” he added optimistically.

KWBF has given head coach Charles Ogolla the mandate to lead the team. He has selected Ashley Inyele, Luckiness Musimbi, Sheryl Akoth, Mildred Amurega, Christine Mutheu, Mary Atieno, Mitchell Yegon, Diana Faith, Patricia Oloo, Merab Atieno, Mercy Musyoka, and Caroline Syombua for the assignment.

Ogolla’s charges will compete against hosts DR Congo, Liberia, and South Africa in the four-nation tournament, with only the winner securing qualification for the 2027 U-25 Women’s World Championship.

Kenya, like the other participating nations, is expected to arrive in Kinshasa on March 14 ahead of the tournament, which will be held at the Gymnase Multisports de la Police Nationale and hosted by the Fédération Congolaise de Basketball sur Fauteuil.
