Duncan Kung’u emerged overall winner of the 2026 Ruiru Sports Club Captain’s Prize after carding an impressive 45 Stableford points while playing off a handicap of 21. The week-long event concluded on Sunday in Kiambu County.

Speaking after his victory, Kung’u congratulated the 334 golfers who participated in the tournament, organized under Club Captain Justus Mathenge. The event featured several themed activities, with the main competition held on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

“I had a fantastic round at the Captain’s Prize, thoroughly enjoyed the company of my fourball, and I’m pleased my short game really came through for me on the day,” said Kung’u.

Ruiru Sports Club captain Justus Mathenge praised the golfers for their competitiveness, noting that the high level of play reflected the club’s strong golfing standards.

“To see 334 golfers take to the course this weekend is a testament to the growth of the sport at Ruiru Sports Club. The level of competition, especially from our division winners and sponsors, has set a high bar for the rest of the 2026 season,” he said.

Catherine Kamene and Mercy Martin both impressed in the Ladies’ Division Two, finishing with 45 Stableford points each, while Erastus Ouko won the Men’s Division Two title with 44 points.

In the gross category, Catherine Wambui secured the top honour with a score of 77.

Among the sponsors, Albert Waweru of Britam and Victor Juma of Laptop Clinic both posted 52 Stableford points, with Waweru taking the win on countback.

In the guest category, Harun Mugendi led with 45 points, while Halima Salim won the Lady Guest title with 40 points.

Louis Nderi and Wambui Gachoka claimed the Longest Drive titles for men and ladies, respectively, while Michael Waititu and Catherine Wambui won the Nearest to the Pin prizes.

The 2026 Ruiru Sports Club Captain’s Prize ran from Monday, April 6 to Sunday, April 12, 2026.
