The National Olympic Committee of Kenya has teamed up with Koitalel University College to create the Olympiafrica Sports Centre, a bold new hub designed to widen access to structured sport and transform young lives across the nation. The partnership, driven by NOCK President Shadrack Maluki and First Deputy President Barnaba Korir, promises to fuse athletic development with education and life skills in a single, purpose-built program.
A Vision for Sport and Education United
The Olympiafrica Sports Centre is more than a training ground. It is a vision made concrete: a place where talent is discovered, discipline is forged, and leadership is nurtured. Shadrack Maluki described the collaboration as a shared commitment to empower the next generation through the twin engines of sport and education.
“This is a major step toward expanding structured access to sport for young people across the country,” Maluki said, emphasising the project’s aim to produce responsible, empowered, and disciplined youth who thrive both on the field and in life.
Koitalel Aims to Become a Sports Science Beacon
Prof. Winston Jumba Akala, Principal of Koitalel University College, welcomed the partnership and pledged the institution’s ambition to become a national centre for sports science. Koitalel will support athlete development, train sports medicine professionals, and host programs that promote Olympic values and community engagement.
“Let NOCK and Koitalel work together to grow Koitalel into the centre of excellence in sports science in this country,” Prof. Akala declared, framing the centre as a hub for structured youth engagement and social development.
Building Character, Creating Opportunity
NOCK’s approach places equal weight on character formation and competitive success. The Olympiafrica Sports Centre will deliver coaching, education, and mentorship designed to instil integrity, teamwork, and resilience. Maluki stressed that sport must complement education to shape leaders and open pathways to opportunity.
The initiative aims to build sustainable systems that identify talent early, support athletes through scientific training and medical care, and prepare young people for life beyond sport.
A Legacy of Social Good
Beyond medals and trophies, the partnership underscores sport’s power as a force for social transformation. By aligning with national priorities in education and youth development, NOCK and Koitalel hope the Olympiafrica Sports Centre will spark community uplift, expand access to high-quality training, and inspire a new generation of Kenyan champions—both on the field and in society.
The Olympiafrica Sports Centre marks a strategic, long-term investment in Kenya’s youth, promising to turn raw potential into disciplined excellence and to place sport at the heart of national development.
