The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has confirmed that its next party nominations will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, marking a key step in preparations for upcoming by-elections. The announcement comes as the party moves to fill both parliamentary and county assembly vacancies.
In an official notice signed on December 23, 2025, NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura stated that the nominations will cover Isiolo South’s parliamentary seat, two county assembly wards in Embu County, and one in Kakamega County.
The vacant positions include Muminji Ward and Evuore Ward in Mbeere North Constituency, along with West Kabras Ward in Malava Constituency. The Isiolo South seat became available earlier this month following the IEBC’s declaration of a by-election.
For the county assembly seats, all three became vacant after sitting members resigned to contest parliamentary positions.
The notice directed aspiring candidates to register on the UDA portal between December 23 and December 31, 2025. The nomination fee for men contesting the parliamentary seat is Sh250,000, while women, youth, and persons with disabilities will pay Sh125,000. For the county assembly seats, male candidates will pay Sh50,000 and female, youth, and PWD candidates Sh25,000 each.
With the date now set, political activity is expected to intensify in the affected counties as aspirants start mobilising supporters ahead of the January 10 polls.
UDA has thus become the first major party to publicly outline its nominations schedule in advance of the February 26, 2026, by-elections. The party has also confirmed that grassroots elections will be held on January 10 in Kakamega, Embu, and Isiolo counties, aligning with the broader election calendar.
Earlier, the registration period for aspirants opened on December 4 and closed on December 23, 2025.
