In Summary

Even prior to Raila's death , cracks had started to form within the ODM party, particularly after the former Prime Minister decided to enter into a deal with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Kasmuel McOure has defended the unity and resilience of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), dismissing claims that the party is fractured amid recent political developments.

In an interview on Thursday, Kasmuel described ODM as a strong and enduring political force, capable of withstanding criticism and internal disagreements.

“Yes, the Orange Democratic Movement is just as solid as it, but we’ve lost, of course, we are going through a period of immense grief,” Kasmuel said on Radio Generation'. He added that the party’s founder laid down structures that could endure even the most challenging contradictions.

“It is mind boggling. That’s why people who are on the outside don’t understand how we can say these things, and the party still remains united,” he said. Kasmuel emphasized that despite speculation about members leaving, no legislator has formally quit ODM.

He noted that some legislators had publicly expressed concerns about not receiving party tickets or even declared the party “dead,” yet they have remained loyal.

“That party can withstand so much. It is so strong in its integrity of structure that I don’t know. So I’m not worried when someone asks me that,” Kasmuel said.

The interview highlights Kasmuel’s confidence in ODM’s stability, portraying a party that continues to maintain cohesion despite political pressures and public scrutiny.

He argued that the unity stems from the foundational systems put in place by the party’s leadership, ensuring that ODM can survive even in turbulent times.

Even prior to Raila's death , cracks had started to form within the ODM party, particularly after the former Prime Minister decided to enter into a deal with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Since signing an MoU in March 2025, factions have emerged within ODM amid speculation that some members of the party were discontent with going to bed with the government.

But, according to Ruth Odinga (Raila's sister), ODM will remain a solid unit and will "go into any negotiation table with one united ODM."

Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho  warned that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will not allow anyone to cause divisions within the party, vowing that those who try will be removed.

Speaking at the funeral service of the late former Prime Minister  at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo, Joho also expressed his steadfast loyalty to Raila, recalling how the late leader opened opportunities for him despite his non-political family background.

The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that ODM will remain strong and united.

“ODM people, I have heard you. As a member, the values and principles of the party have been put in me by Raila Odinga in my heart. I want to tell you, whoever thinks that he will break the ODM Party, it will be them that will be chased away and the party will remain standing and firm. If you try to break the ODM party, it will be you who will leave,” Joho said on Sunday
