The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued strict guidelines for supervisors, directing that containers with KPSEA and KJSEA papers be opened at 6 a.m., while KCSE containers will be opened at 7 a.m. countrywide.

The 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) are scheduled to start on Monday.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued strict guidelines for supervisors, directing that containers with KPSEA and KJSEA papers be opened at 6 a.m., while KCSE containers will be opened at 7 a.m. countrywide.

Additionally, all mobile phones belonging to staff at examination centres will be locked away, with the supervisor retaining the key for security reasons.

Centre managers are also required to maintain an approved list of authorised personnel within the examination premises, who must present national identification for verification.

KNEC has cautioned supervisors against prematurely opening exam packets, warning that such actions could cause serious mix-ups.
According to KNEC CEO David Njengere, this year’s examinations will involve over 3.4 million candidates across KPSEA, KJSEA, and KCSE.

He assured that the council is fully prepared to deliver smooth and credible assessments, warning against any form of malpractice.

“Last year, results for 711 KCSE candidates were cancelled due to malpractice,” Njengere noted. “It was a painful but necessary step to safeguard the integrity of our national examinations.”

KNEC regulations stipulate that any candidate found engaging in malpractice will have their results cancelled to preserve fairness and trust in the assessment process.
