An emergency operation is ongoing in Highrise area in Kibera after a building came down, leaving uncertainty over the fate of people who may be caught inside the debris.
Rescue teams have moved to the scene and are working through the rubble as they try to reach any survivors.
In a statement, Kenya Red Cross confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that its response teams have been deployed and are actively involved in search and rescue efforts.
The teams are coordinating with other responders on the ground as they assess the situation and attempt to gain access to areas where people could be trapped.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people may be inside the collapsed structure. Efforts to establish the number of those affected are still ongoing as responders continue to clear the debris and search through the wreckage.More to follow…..
