The Gang Suppression Force (GSF) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that a Kenyan police officer was killed during recent operations in Haiti.

The force in a statement confirmed that all officers are safe and accounted for.

“Contrary to some misleading reports circulating on social media, no Kenyan officer was killed during the operation,” the GSF emphasized, thanking the Haitian population for their continued cooperation.

The GSF said the multinational team working alongside the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAD’H) conducted several targeted operations and patrols in the Artibonite Department over the past week.

It said the missions were aimed at clearing key transport routes and reinforcing security in the volatile region.

The force said that a major joint operation took place on October 17, running from 6:30 am to 10 pm, to clear the main road between Pont Sondé and Verret in the Liancourt area.

Despite resistance from elements of the Gran-Griff gang, the GSF said its forces succeeded in making the route safe and ensuring the delivery of armored vehicles to police stations in Pont Sondé, Petite-Rivière, and Liancourt.

“These vehicles will significantly enhance the security posture in the region,” the statement read.

The force reported that several barricades along the main road were dismantled, while gang members’ attempts to block the route using trenches and to attack from elevated buildings with Molotov cocktails were swiftly neutralized.

Specialized units, including BIM and UTAG, participated in the engagement.

Meanwhile in Port-au-Prince, joint GSF, PNH, and FAD’H teams have maintained day and night patrols across several areas including Kenscoff, Downtown, Furcy, Vivy Mitchell, Belvil, Bellevue, Taras, Pacot, and the airport area.

The force said the patrols are focused on intelligence-led, counter-gang operations aimed at neutralizing criminal networks, securing key infrastructure, and maintaining public order.

The GSF said the operations also target illicit arms trafficking, the arrest of gang leaders and collaborators, and the clearing of barricades along major supply routes.

It reiterated its commitment to supporting the Haitian National Police and Armed Forces in restoring peace and stability through joint training, experience sharing, and operational support.

While the force operated as the Haiti Multinational Security Mission, a number of Kenyan officers making up the forced were killed in confrontations with gangs.
