Kenya Airways has announced the appointment of four new members to its board of directors, including businessman Kiprono Kittony who will serve as chairman and independent non-executive director.
The national carrier disclosed the appointments in a public announcement issued on March 5, stating that the changes were made in accordance with the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing and Disclosures) Regulations 2023.
The airline also appointed Chris Diaz, Winnie Iminza Nyamute and David Ndii as non-executive directors.
“The Board, Management and Staff of Kenya Airways Plc hereby congratulate Mr. Kiprono Kittony, Mr. Chris Diaz, Prof. Winnie Iminza Nyamute and Dr. David Ndii on their appointment and wish them success in their new roles,” the announcement said.
Kittony, a prominent Kenyan business leader, currently serves as chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange and has played a key role in the country’s private sector development.
He is widely recognised for his work in revitalising the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has also chaired or co-founded several organisations including CreditInfo CRB Kenya, Mtech Limited, Betway Kenya and Radio Africa Group.
Internationally, Kittony advises a private equity fund in Amsterdam and serves as vice chairman of the World Chambers Federation, representing Africa.
He is also a director at the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation.
Chris Diaz, who joins the board as an independent non-executive director, is a seasoned business strategist with more than three decades of experience in corporate leadership and integrated business solutions.
Diaz currently chairs Adili Group and serves as a director at ALN Africa and the Middle East, as well as group director at Bidco Africa.
He has also played influential roles in aviation through Kenya Airways and the Kenya Airports Authority, while earning international recognition in marketing leadership and strategy.
Also joining the board is Prof. Winnie Iminza Nyamute, an associate professor at the University of Nairobi and a respected scholar in finance and accounting.
With more than three decades of experience in academia and professional practice, Nyamute has also served on several corporate boards including the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Sameer Africa Plc and Family Bank Limited.
Economist David Ndii completes the new appointments. Ndii currently chairs the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and serves as the principal economic policy adviser to the president.
With over 30 years of experience, he has held roles as chief economist at Equity Bank, economist at the World Bank and adviser to international financial institutions.
The appointments come as Kenya Airways continues efforts to strengthen its governance and strategic leadership as the airline works toward long-term financial stability and growth in the competitive aviation sector.
