In Summary

State House Kenya has asked MPs to approve an extra Sh8.4 billion in the 2025/26 supplementary budget, nearly doubling its allocation to fund presidential operations and logistics.

State House Kenya has requested an additional Sh8.4 billion in the Supplementary Estimates I for the Financial Year 2025/2026, a move that would significantly increase its budget to support presidential operations and government programmes.

Katoo Ole Metito, State House Comptroller when appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and Internal Security, told the lawmakers that if  the supplementary budget will approved, the allocation will rise from Sh8.58 billion to Sh16.99 billion, reflecting an increase of Sh8.42 billion to cater for operational and administrative expenditures linked to the Presidency.

According to the submission, the National Treasury has already approved additional resources within the supplementary estimates to address funding shortfalls.

“The National Treasury has considered and approved additional funding of Sh3,919.9 million within the context of Supplementary Estimates No. I FY 2025/26 to cater for shortfalls under various areas of expenditure, including personnel emoluments, utilities, communications services, domestic travels on local Presidential functions, State hospitality costs, fuel, maintenance, and other operating expenditures.” Metito told the lawmakers.

The Treasury has also approved the reallocation of funds to improve State House logistics.

“Additionally, the National Treasury considered and approved reallocation of Sh55 million for procurement of motor vehicles to enhance logistical efficiency,” he added.

State House told lawmakers that it currently has no pending bills or stalled projects.

“State House does not have any pending bills as of 31st December 2025 and State House does not have any stalled projects,” Metito affirmed.

The institution also reported strong budget absorption, noting that by March 2026, it had spent Sh11.3 billion out of Sh13.98 billion, representing about 86 percent absorption.

State House urged the committee to approve the additional funding to support planned programmes and operations.

“State House requests this Committee for consideration of the additional funding proposed under Supplementary Estimates No.1 FY 2025/26 which will significantly facilitate the implementation of key planned activities,” Metito said.

The Gabriel Tongoyo led-committee will retreat  for report writing to approve or reject the statehouse supplementary budget.
