Six individuals have been taken into custody in Vipingo, Kilifi County, in connection with a robbery and burglary that occurred in Mtwapa on January 28, 2026.
The arrests followed a coordinated intelligence-led operation by detectives from Kilifi South Sub-County, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“Acting on intelligence, the officers moved to a hideout in Vipingo where the suspects were believed to be staying,” the DCI said in a statement.
During the first raid, three suspects were detained. Police recovered several items believed to be connected to criminal activities or obtained illegally. These included six mobile phones, eight national identity cards under different names, and crude weapons such as Somali swords and pangas.

Investigators also found a cash bail receipt tied to a separate attempted robbery with violence case. One suspect reportedly has an active arrest warrant in that case.
Information gathered during questioning led officers to a second residence in the same area, where three more suspects were arrested. Police recovered 18 large rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, a weighing scale, and Sh7,000 in cash.
All recovered items will undergo further analysis as the investigation continues.
The six suspects were taken to Mtwapa Police Station and later produced in court, where detectives were granted 14 days of custodial orders for further investigation.
Authorities said the probe focuses on robbery with violence, burglary, and the recovered suspected weapons and narcotics.
The arrests come as violent crime remains a growing concern nationwide, with several incidents highlighted through videos circulating on social media. Police emphasized their commitment to public safety and urged citizens to report information that could aid in preventing crime and supporting investigations.
