Hard truths.
In 2018, a video emerged showing the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader firing several shots in the air during his party's fifth anniversary celebrations held in the country's Eastern Cape province.
Two complaints had been filed against Malema, one by the South African Human Rights Commission and another by a citizen who claimed to have been threatened following the remarks.
The EFF condemned the decision as politically motivated, saying Malema's words were misrepresented and that neither he nor the party would compromise their beliefs for a visa.
